Hello! I'm thinking of creating a gift for Late Treat Bonanza: it's a treat for a past Yuletide request, which I've been working on for a while and which is almost in a finished state. As it is, the piece stands on its own quite nicely, but I don't want to rule out continuing it later, either by adding more chapters or writing a sequel (I think I will never get it done if I totally commit to writing a longer version, hence why I'm considering submitting it for LTB xD).

I know in most exchanges the etiquette is to post a sequel at a later date using the Ao3 series function, rather than adding extra chapters to your gift fic; however, as LTB is quite unusual in lots of respects, I just wanted to check what the protocol is? Additionally, would it be acceptable to mention in the final author's note about the possibility of a sequel, since I know again that's something where etiquette can vary? (Something along the lines of "This fic is intended to stand alone, but may be continued at a later date".)
